I am sure you have seen the hardcore Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy (1976). Initially, I thought Alice ou la dernière fugue was a softcore version of Alice in Wonderland with plenty of sex and nudity, simply because it stars Silvia Kristel. But that is not the case here, for this is a Claude Chabrol film. The man doesn't do softcore, he does art. But fear not, because what would a French arthouse film be without some bare titties? Sylvia Kristel has a full-frontal scene as she prepares to take a bath only to be interrupted by some creepy voice.

I read some review in French and it seems this is a little gem well worth discovering if you have the time. There was a time when I used to watch tons of non-mainstream films. I still do now but much less than I'd like. Times change, shit happens, and life catches up with you.

Here it is, the original Emmanuelle, the one that started it all. It has Sylvia Kristel as Emmanuelle and also featuring an 18 year old Christine Boisson in a small role.

Not only I find this to be the best in the series, it's also the first erotic movie I have ever seen. It was responsible for many a solitary seeds spilling in my youth. My favorite scene is the aftermath of a tennis game between Sylvia Kristel and Jeanne Colletin.

Surprisingly, I couldn't find a good rip of this movie anywhere. So I downloaded the dvd5 and made my own rip, resulting in a very big clip (26 minutes - 726mb) but the quality is great. This film deserves it. Audio is in French.

You probably know Sylvia Kristel as Emmanuelle. This not being a softcore flick, there is less explicit nudity and sex than in your usual Emmanuelle movie. However, there still is enough of Sylvia Kristel's 3 B's to give your hungry eyes a good treat.

And yes, there is that landscaping scene where the gardener decorates Lady Chatterley's naked body with flowers. I think it was done better in the 2006 version.

Controversial director Walerian Borowczyk ("Immoral Tales", "La Bete") delivers an erotically-charged drama starring "Emmanuelle's" Sylvia Kristel as a Parisian prostitute who partakes in a torrid affair with client Joe Dallesandro after his wife commits suicide.

The film is beautifully photographed, full of the director's obtuse trademark framing, and, something rather unusual for Borowczyk, features a remarkable period soundtrack, from the first Kristel/Dallesandro sex scene played out to 10CC's I'm Not in Love to the stunning blowjob sequence set to Pink Floyd, and an incredible climax that employs Elton John's Funeral For a Friend. While La Marge is distinctively a Borowczyk film in many respects, it also possesses a sombreness and maturity that was rare for the director, for despite the occasional surreal moment (a dwarf watching television, a hotel maid examining her breasts in the mirror, a deranged old woman watching sex through a keyhole), it is primarily a straightforward examination of two doomed characters unable to escape the prisons of their existence.
