The Ranch (2004) was originally meant to be a pilot for a new TV show. Inserting quote from Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction:

Well, the way they make shows is, they make one show. That show's called a pilot. Then they show that show to the people who make shows, and on the strength of that one show they decide if they're going to make more shows. Some pilots get picked and become television programs. Some don't, become nothing. The Ranch was one of the ones that became nothing.

Well, it didn't really become nothing, because the producers wanted to make some money so they released this pilot as a "movie" on DVD. The result is a sometimes erection-provoking film about some prostitutes working in a brothel. I wish I could tell you more about this film but if I did I would be lying, because...shit, I've got tons of other more interesting movies to waste my time on than this.

I have been on a steady diet of horror movies for the last several days. I re-watched some of my favorites: The Descent, Severance, Stir of Echoes and discovered some great new gems: El Orfanato, A Tale of Two Sisters, and lastly: Linkeroever aka Left Bank (2008), a terrific horror movie from Belgium. The last time I saw a Belgian horror flick it was Calvaire aka The Ordeal (2004), which was excellent. You can get it here, by the way.

With Left Bank, the Belgian filmmakers served up yet another beautifully shot, deliciously dark, chilling psychological mystery. It's very similar to Rosemary's Baby in tone and atmosphere. It's slow-paced but the patient viewer will be rewarded with a great story, suspenseful and thought-provoking, completed with an awesome ending. If you want something different than torture porn a la Hostel and Saw, this one is for you. Check out Let The Right One In, too, if you haven't already. Most original vampire film I have seen in years!!

El sexo está loco aka Sex is Crazy (1981) is a sex comedy by famed director Jesus Franco. Apparently, the story involves aliens kidnapping girls and knock them up. Sounds fun but I haven't had time to watch the whole movie, only the "good" parts. And they are good, for the most part. The girls look great, the boobs look delicious and the sex, while not quite graphic, is very nice, especially the foursome scene.
